CARDIAC consultant Dr Mark Walters says at times "facilities are stretched" at Grimsby's Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital – and a new campaign will definitely help.

He said raising money for the Big Red Heart Appeal - the Grimsby Telegraph's official campaign - will help to build on the excellent cardiac services delivered by hospital staff.

Dr Walters has taken time out from his busy schedule to talk about his job role and what raising money for the appeal will mean for the people of North East Lincolnshire.

As reported, the Big Red Heart Appeal aims to raise £2-million for a new angiography suite, including a catheterisation lab.

Dr Walters said co-ordinator of the appeal Ron Kitching has done an "enormous" amount of work so far.

He said: "Ron has devoted time and effort and worked tirelessly and selflessly."

To read more about Dr Walters, the events lined up to raise money for the appeal and how to get involved, read today's Grimsby Telegraph.
