FIFTY nine motorists have been caught out by the area's brand new parking wardens in their first 10 days on the streets of North East Lincolnshire.

After a long break, parking enforcement officers returned to ensure the rules are not flouted on July 5.

And in the first 10 days, they gave out 59 £70 tickets.

Motorists are given the opportunity to appeal their fines, however, highway bosses have revealed that 17 drivers have already bitten the bullet and stumped up the cash.

Read today's Grimsby Telegraph to find out what the worst offender did, how one of the council's own vehicles was caught out, and where the majority of the fines have so far been handed out.

Parking enforcement officers have resumed duties in North East Lincolnshire and are once again clamping down on illegally-parked vehicles.

    “Johnathan Oldstyle.

You come over as the self-styled pompous prig type, who feels that they have the right to park with impunity due to their superior status. Am I right? People have every right to be critical of the all too numerous illegal parkers who cause inconvenience to others, so get use to it, as they are justifiably exhibiting their democratic right of letting their feelings be known.”

“I'm surprised to see only two instances of those predictable and unimaginative statements you would expect to see (amongst the rest of the mostly drivel) in response to an article like this one. You know the ones, it's hardly rocket science is it? It's simple really, yes the ones you would expect to hear from the smug, never done a thing wrong in their lives, holier than thou's. Anyway here they are for your amusement.

"It's simple really do not park illegally and there will not be a problem about getting a ticket.

If you park legally it doesn't affect you. Quite simple really."

But could they be the words from the council who use those predictable and unimaginative phrases such as:

"This will send a clear message..... or
The message is finally getting through...."

Are these really words from the newly appointed Civil Parking Enforcement squad?”

“Re; COUNCIL VEHICLES, I wonder what council business that chap is on who often parks a little white council van in Bethlehem Street (on double yellow lines), he then pops in the Yorkshire Bank, attends to his official council business, pops out and drives away. A further example of double standards from North East Lincs Council.”

“THIS IS BRILLIANT NEWS AS REPORTED ELSEWHERE TODAY AND WILL HIT IRRESPONSIBLE DRIVERS EVEN HARDER. I¿M SO HAPPY.

Motorists face being hit by a massive increase in fines to plug a black hole in the coalition's spending commitments.
Officials want to raise the controversial Victims' Surcharge, which is added to court fines for speeding and other minor offences, from £15 to as much as £30.
They are also forging ahead with Labour's widely criticised plan - which Tory MPs had expected the new Government to axe - to levy the charge on PARKING TICKETS and other fixed penalty notice offences which do not even reach court.
This 'double whammy' would increase the cost of a parking ticket by 50 per cent, from £60 to £90.

HAND OUT THOSE PARKING TICKETS TO SWELL THE STEALTH TAX.”

“Its just about parking cars, why are people that bothered? I live down a cul-de-sac near a school and it is often difficult to park directly outside my house. Guess what? I park a little further from my house and walk to my door - shock, horror!! Getting done by a traffic warden is just one of life's grievances, like trading in dog poo or taking an item back to Comet, it doesn't happen very often but you know it will one day. Maybe, I'll park on a yellow line tomorrow, maybe I won't but what I do know is I'll give at least £70 of verbal grief to the warden involved and try to ruin their day as well - GOOD TIMES!!”

“A suggestion. Park vehicle in a designated area. That way,you tend not to be fined. I got one though. She decided to buy most of York and spent ages trying to do it. Hrrumph....Bored stupid and fined. Lucky me. Typical.....”
