​MR D Rowbotham, of New Waltham, got in touch after we published this photograph.

He said: “I can tell you a few details about it. With regard to Bill Ormond, apart from refereeing as a young man, as a schoolboy he became an English Schoolboy football international.

“Apart from football, Bill and his brother Sidney were both members of the former Clee Rovers Cricket Club.

“The unidentified player to the right of Roy Teanby is Bobby Riggall, one of two brothers who also played for Armstrong Street School.

“In the centre of the front row is Byron Greetham. Byron played for Welholme School and Grimsby Town Colts.

“In later years, Roy Teanby became a highly-respected football official in Grimsby And District leagues.

“Gordon Cockerill in his later years was a well-known publican. As a schoolboy he played for Elliston Street School.”
