Adam Vincent's brother says killers 'should have paid with their own lives'
THE brother of murder victim Adam Vincent says he believes his killers should have hanged for their crime.
Andrew Vincent, 40, said although he was pleased the men responsible for Adam's death had been convicted and handed life sentences for his murder and subsequent dismemberment, he believed they should pay for their crimes with their lives.
He said: "I am glad they got what they deserved, although, personally, I think they should have hanged."
As reported, Lee Griffiths, 43, his sons Thomas Griffiths, 22, and Luke Griffiths, 19, of Southfield Road, Scartho, and his step-son Mark Jackson, 28, of Wickenby Close, Grimsby, were all found guilty of the murder of 33-year-old Adam.
Matthew Frow, 32, of a different address on Southfield Road, was found guilty of causing him grievous bodily harm with intent and all five men were convicted of perverting the cause of justice, in relation to the dismemberment and disposal of his body.
Although he could not face travelling to Sheffield Crown Court to attend the trial himself as it brought him too close to his brother's killers, Andrew said he had followed the case closely in the Grimsby Telegraph.
He added: "I read everything in the Grimsby Telegraph about the case. If it was not for the paper I would not have known everything that went on.
"I thank the Telegraph for what they did. They have been brilliant."
However, he added that the tragedy and the ten-week-long trial had brought him and his mother, Sheila Baxter, closer together.
He also named his son, William Adam Vincent, now seven months – who was born two days after Adam's birthday in June – in memory of his brother.
He said: "Me and mum are back in touch and she has had the chance to hug my son William. His middle name is Adam, after my brother. It was my way of respecting his memory.
"Hopefully now we can all rebuild our lives."
He recalled happy memories of the two brothers playing with Adam's go-kart on the Willows estate, adding he had often returned to the Byland Grove area, where they grew up, following his brother's death. Shortly before Adam's disappearance in late February and March last year, Andrew had told his brother he was going to be an uncle once more.
He said: "He was overjoyed. I told him to clean up his act and he would get a chance to see them grow up.
"Adam and I had our differences over his choice of lifestyle.
"I wish I could have helped him more. I tried to persuade him to come off drugs. I always knew that him being connected to drugs would destroy him."
Adam's niece, Courtney Vincent, 12, wrote a poem in memory of her uncle, which she keeps in a memory box.
It reads: "Uncle Adam. Why did you have to go so, so, soon? I wish you were here. But if I could bring back the past then I would, but I can't.
"You are with me every step of the way. Goodbye uncle Adam."
The box also includes photographs, pictures of her uncle's favourite singer Bob Marley and a CD of the songs played at his funeral.
She added: "I miss him loads. I miss the fun things we did together. They should not have done what they did.
"I remember on Christmas Day he picked up our Nintendo Wii and pretended to run off because he wanted one. I wish he was still around. I am glad justice has been done."

“I'm not sure the issue of bringing back the death sentence for murder has even been debated in any living parliment I can remember. I'm not sure that they would enforce retrospectively, perhaps you could ask Austin Mitchel to raise it in the house. it would help reduce the prison population and the tax burden on society and any repeat offences, perhaps it should also be extended to sex offenders or at the very least castration so there could be no repeat offences?”

“To be fair Stephen Lawrence was a bright young kid with a great future ahead of him and was set on for no reason whatsoever (except his colour which he could do little about) so I don't understand why people are comparing the 2 cases.
As for the Telegraph, I loved these parts :-
He added: "I read everything in the Grimsby Telegraph about the case. If it was not for the paper I would not have known everything that went on.
"I thank the Telegraph for what they did. They have been brilliant."
Do me a favour !!! The rest of the family couldn't have kept him updated ? It's cringeworty journalism, it really is.”

“Rickygt i think you have hit the nail on the head - look at all the press coverage the Stephen Lawrence case has received lately, yes that too was a horrendous needless crime, but Ive followed Adam's trial and have often wondered why it's never made the national press.”
