Grimsby ended a three-match winless run on the road with a 2-0 victory over Alfreton.

Crawley loanee Scott Neilson gave the Mariners the advantage with a strike from the edge of the box seven minutes before the break.

The hosts spurned a great opportunity to hit straight back when Anthony Wilson headed over the bar from just six yards after getting on the end of Josh Law's corner.

Despite seeing more of the ball after the break, the Reds could have fallen further behind after 57 minutes as Neilson found space in the box but Ross Killock was in bravely to block his shot.

With two minutes to go Ross Hannah sealed the points with a cool finish from Craig Disley's cross.
