This is Grimsby

AN almighty act is set to send a Grimsby audience into a frenzy tomorrow night.

Ricky Warwick, former frontman of UK band The Almighty will perform new and classic foot stomping tunes at the Yardbirds Rock Club.

The singer-songwriter and guitarist, who formed the band in Glasgow in 1988, has previously performed with Def Leppard and supported the likes of Bob Dylan and Sheryl Crowe.

The star performs emotionally direct, pure music, exemplified by such American influences as Johnny Cash, Bruce Springsteen, Woodier Guthrie and Steve Earle.

He said tomorrow's audience are in for a treat, with a "sweat drenched brilliant night, full of passion".

Ricky, 43, who now lives in Los Angeles said: "I will be performing old Almighty tracks along with songs from my solo albums.

"This current tour includes 23 dates and I've performed at Yardbirds before, it's a great venue and the set will be as aggressive as it can be with an acoustic guitar.

"There will be lots of crowd interaction and following the UK tour I will be heading off back to the states in June to tour there."

Support on the night will be provided by the whisky-and-smoked-gravel voice of Scottish rocker Fin Muir from rock band Waysted. As well as his rock antics the performer is well-known for singing the croaky theme tune to TV's The Office.

Get along

The gig starts around 7pm and tickets are £5 in advance and £6 on the door. For more information about the acts log onto www.myspace.com/rickywarwick and www.myspace.com/findidnin.
