Anthony Elding leaves Grimsby Town for Irish Premier League side
ANTHONY Elding has left Grimsby Town by mutual consent.
The experienced striker is poised to sign for an Irish Premier League side – but not Sligo Rovers who the 30-year-old was linked with yesterday.

Anthony Elding is set to sign for an Irish Premier League side.
The former Leeds United forward has endured a frustrating campaign at Blundell Park after scoring 16 times for the Mariners last season.
Following a loan spell at League One Preston, Elding has been unable to break into the Town first-team squad.

“I had a fantastic season last season and there are some fantastic people behind the scenes who I will keep in touch with.
“I would like to wish everyone at the club all the best for the rest of the season and hope they get promoted.
“I’m looking forward to my new challenge.”

“I've got nothing against his quality but Elding is everything that is wrong with football nowadays. No loyalty. 17 clubs in his career speaks volumes, he's never happy wherever he goes, he spends a season or so at a club and then he gets itchy feet every time and slaps in a transfer request.
Thanks for last season Elds but I hope our current crop of players have a bit more loyalty towards the club who pays their wages.”
