Anthony Elding wants to leave Grimsby Town
ANTHONY Elding has revealed he wants to leave Grimsby Town – but joint boss Rob Scott insists he's going nowhere until a replacement can be found.
Last month, the 30-year-old was the subject of an offer from League One outfit Preston North End, however, that approach was rejected by the club.

After learning of Preston's offer and its subsequent refusal, the striker indicated his desire to leave to the joint bosses.
But while Scott admits that Elding is frustrated by the current situation, he said that the former Leeds United man will only be allowed to leave if a player "as good, if not better" can be found when the loan market re-opens on Friday.

"Anthony is frustrated that he's not playing," Scott said.
"The 11 players that are starting are always the content ones and the rest are going to be frustrated – that's part and parcel of football.
"The truth of the matter is that we had one phone call about him during the transfer window and that was from Preston.
"They asked to take him, which we refused, and then Anthony came to us and said he wanted to leave because he obviously knew Preston were interested.
"I can understand it because of the level that they're at, but they weren't prepared to financially reward us for taking him – why should we let a player go for nothing?"
In February, Elding signed a new contract that ties him to the club until the end of next season.
Scott added: "We're not about to let players go without having a suitable replacement, and suitable replacements for somebody like Anthony Elding are not just going to cost nothing.
"We have to look at the loan players available to us and, if we feel that they aren't as good if not better than Anthony, then we won't pursue it.
"Ultimately, he's at the football club and we want him to give everything for this football club as he always has – we'd never question his attitude."

“I'm not sure the first couple of posts have got it right! we can't cash in on him because no one is offering any cash for him, why? because he isn't good enough. Flipping eck Anthony get a grip son and know your limits. You want to go and sit on Preston's bench, thats if you make the bench that is, it just shows how greedy and uninterested in playing football you so called pro's are, why don't you get your head down and work just that little bit harder in training and try and get in the team through merit and not expecting to be in it because you had a semi ok season last season. Give your head a shake mate or you will end up without a club and on the dole que or even worse playing back at Lincoln.......”

“Problem is now that Elding will be barracked when he plays, unless he's a pro and does the business on the pitch until he leaves. Decent player last season but hasn't seemed in the zone so far this season, so has been rightly dropped. S&H are on top form and know who to play. Southwell substitution on Saturday was excellent.”

Lo and behold, as soon as a bigger club comes along with a few extra quid on offer, he wants to leave. Us fans don't like to be treated as mugs with regards to false loyalty towards the club, so off you pop, Elding. You won't be missed.”
