Arran Brindle off to a flier for England in run-up to ICC Women's Cricket World Cup
LOUTH cricketer Arran Brindle was among the wickets as England began their build-up for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup.
The all-rounder helped the defending champions to a comprehensive 51-run win over South Africa in yesterday’s first warm-up match in Mumbai.
Although the 31-year-old scored just eight with the bat, England posted a total of 270 for nine from their 50 overs at the Brabourne Stadium. Captain Charlotte Edwards hit 78 off 94 balls.
The South Africans then made 219 for six in their allotted overs, with Brindle snaring number three batter Savanna Cordes lbw for 33.The teacher at Louth’s Greenwich House independent school also took a catch in the field.
