“Some bikers think they own the road especially down scartho road were they spent load of money 2years ago makin bike tracks on the path and they still ride on roads!”

“Also, why all the red arrows for Seahunter's comment? Other people have said the same and been showered with green ones!”

    “Seahunter:

Just this afternoon had a car have to brake hard behind me after deciding not to squeeze between me and two parked cars. Don't know how he couldn't see me - front and rear lights and reflectors, reflectors and flashing lights on wheel spokes, high viz vest and neon bobble hat and not quite dark.

Oh wait a minute, silly me, I know how he didn't see me til the last minute, HE WAS ON HIS MOBILE!!!”

“Just amazes me how little value many cyclists round here place on their lives, I mean it's only about £30 for a reasonable set of lights for a bike. I commute daily to Immingham from Grimsby and the number of idiots I see daily with no lights and wearing dark clothing astounds me.

That said, I have a pair of 3000 lumen lights on the front of my bike that rival a cars headlights (you need them when traveling along the seawall at night) and one of the brightest rear lights available, I wear Hi-Viz clothing and STILL have cars cutting me up at junctions in and around Grimsby.”

“Woah, what a way to make a shedload of assumptions based on the words 'bicycle' and 'collision'!

We don't know the facts of the case. What we do know is there are good and bad cyclists, plus there are good and bad motorists. Once one group stops blaming the other and instead starts looking out for the other group - no matter how good or bad the other group may be - the better chance we all have of accident reductions on our streets.

I speak both as a cyclist and motorist, and make sure I am always clearly seen on my cycle as well as giving ample room to cyclists whilst in my car.”

“to be fair, the lights that most cyclists use are too small and dim. there is also the issue of non visible clothes.....

BUT.... anyone who fits the bill of moron biker usually rides on the path not the road.”

“I cycle as will busy_man. Iake sure drivers can see me. When I'm driving I try to make sure I see cyclists. Too many don't want to be seen.

So explain your point again as you are clearly off the mark.

What does a perfectly apt driver have to do to make sure a 17 year old chav in black with no lights whilst it's raining doesn't end up under their wheels when they cannot even see seen?”

“MatQuinn: if people was more careful things like this would not happen. I cycle a lot and had a car go in to me in day time, Daft old fart did not see you. He knows about it now when he goes his bill for insurance.
The abuse comments on how so how narrow minded people are.”

“OK busy_man... How do you give someone room you cannot see? Fair enough if you do see them and squeeze them, that's down to the driver. But the amount of idiots going to and coming from the Pyewipe in dark clobber, no lights and no care is scandalous.

They really don't care that they are invisible.”
