FLOOD warnings are in place across the area, with heavy rain expected in the early hours of Friday. 

Humberside Fire and Rescue Service is urging residents to prepare and has issued the following advice:

Put flood boards, polythene and sandbags in placeMake a list now of what you can move away from the risk

Turn off electricity, water and gas supplies

Roll up carpets and rugs

Unless you have time to remove them hang curtains over rods

Move sentimental items to safety

Put important documents in polythene bags and move to safety

 Garden and outside

Move your car out of the flood risk area

Move any large or loose items or weigh them down

Spokesman Phil Jackson said: "It is important that people understand that although the conditions in many areas seem to be quite good, this can change very quickly. Finding out if you are at risk is the first step and taking the necessary precautions is the next. With more rain forecast over the coming days I would  urge people not to get caught out and either visit the website www.environment-agency.gov.ukor call the floodline 0845 9881188."

    “for some reason not all the message made it through last time so lets try again

    if my house floods the rest of cleethorpes would have to be 50 foot under water
    and my area is still considered at risk from a flood ?”

    “Would it be possible to get some enormous full body sponge suits for policemen to roll around in and absorb all the excess water, these could then be wrung out in peoples park pond or the boating lake.”
