THE heat was on for a bridal and menswear shop owner after a small fire broke out.

An electrical fault on a trouser press sparked the minor fire at Pronuptia Menswear, in Freeman Street, Grimsby, at about 1pm today.

Fire crews from Peaks Lane Fire Station quickly put out the fire, and the shop’s stock of 3,500 suits and waistcoats were affected by smoke.

Owner Jon Hancock said: “Luckily no one was hurt – but people have been ringing in continuously asking if their suits will be ready.

“We are still trading as usual and will meet all our orders.

“This could not have happened at a worse time. We have eight proms tonight and several next week and we have a number of weddings. But we will make sure they are all ready.”

The fire has only affected the menswear store and all stock is being dry-cleaned.
