FOLK-rock band Merlin's Keep will be banging the drum for the Haiti appeal on Wednesday this week.

The talented local group are holding a concert at Franklin College, featuring folk legend Roger Beard and newcomer Rachel Plotnek.

It will be kicked off at 7.15pm and Fair Trade refreshments will be available to purchase on the night.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the UNICEF appeal to help the victims of the quake.

Merlin's Keep said they chose UNICEF because 50 per cent of the Haitian population are under the age of 18.

Since the earthquake, UNICEF has been struggling to prevent illegal trafficking of children from Haiti, which is now a huge problem for those charged with the task of caring for those orphaned by the devastating catastrophe.

The band has also overseen the production of a new 19-track charity album, Calling All Performers, featuring many favourite local artists as well as those from further afield who wanted to get involved.

On the first day of its release, it raised £170 for UNICEF.

It is available to purchase from Poole's on Hainton Avenue in Grimsby, Replay Records on Alexandra Road in Grimsby and at Twelve Bar Music on Cleethorpes High Street.

It will also be available at the Haiti concert on March 3.

Tickets

You can pick up tickets from any of the artists playing at the event, or on the door, priced £4.
