GRIMSBY Town produced another solid display at Blundell Park with a comfortable 3-0 win over Gateshead.

Derek Niven and Nathan Pond got themselves on the scoresheet in the first half with victory sealed after the break when new loan signing Ross Hannah registered his second goal in his first two games for the Mariners.

The victory leaves Town fourth in the Blue Square Bet Premier table with a trip to league leaders Newport County up next.

    “Just back from match........ another great performance from the mariners,desire comittment passion massive well done players!!I Nielsen well deserved mom,Disley had another super game tonight...... keep it going captain well done!!We beat another good team tonight who moved the ball around well,they could not break our defence down who were awesome.As long as we keep playing well we should not fear any team in this league,we seem to be a solid unit now and long may it continue till we reach the top of mount BSP.     “Whilst important, Saturdays game is not a 6 pointer, those are for the last 4/6 weeks of the season (whichever end of the league you happen to be in)
    This game will however show how much Town have developed this season. A win would send a clear message to the rest, but would not guarantee promotion a draw would be a good result and a defeat whilst disappointing would be relatively insignificant in the overall scheme of things (provided we were not stuffed)
