Big carbon saving with new doors
EVERY window and door at Grimsby's Municipal Offices is being replaced in a bid to make the building more energy efficient.
Once complete, the project should cut carbon emissions by 32,000 tonnes a year – the equivalent of every resident of Great Coates, Laceby and Waltham flying to Australia and back.
The move is part of the council's commitment to the 10:10 campaign – a Grimsby Telegraph- backed drive to cut carbon emissions by ten per cent this year.
Mike Tofton, principal asset surveyor, said: "Refurbishment work to the Municipal Offices is currently under way.
"The works will help extend the life expectancy of the property, reduce long-term running costs and improve the environment of the property which provides a valued service to members of the community.
"Disruption to frontline services will be kept to a minimum and work to areas that could affect the public will be done outside of opening hours."

“So you can save 32.000 tonnes of CO¿ an
eqivalent of about 11.500 tonnes of oil
or 16.000 m³ of gas.
The amount of energy needed for this building is amazing!”
