Biker walks away from 70mph deer crash
A BIKER has described his miracle escape after he slammed into a deer at 70mph and was hurled 100 yards down the road.
As reported, experienced rider Daniel Ablott, 46, was riding on the A15 yesterday morning when the animal trotted into the path of his Ducati bike, between Barton and Barnetby, just before the junction with the B1206.

North Kelsey man Danny Ablott who hid a deer while riding his Ducati motorcycle.
Mr Ablott hit the deer, was flipped over his handlebars and skidded along the road – but amazingly walked away from the scene with only bruised hands and a fractured ankle.
The back of his heavy duty protective jacket was completely shredded, while the road cut deep grooves into the side of his helmet.
His bike, which caught fire after the accident, was a charred wreck. The deer was killed in the incident.

“It's not really that amazing. I myself have impacted the asphalt head first at near 40mph and didn't even blink. The proper gear will mitigate most of the worst damage. That's one thing about the European riding culture I admire, everyone I've seen has the proper gear at all times.
The one thing I would question is why did he hit the deer? Where I live there are deer even in the urban areas, you learn to keep your hand on the brake. I'm not saying it was totally unavoidable, but the difference between a 20 mph impact and 70 mph impact are vast.”

“"but amazingly walked away from the scene with...a fractured ankle." Without even the slightest hitch in his Gitalong? That IS amazing.”
