Bingham Hotel once stood here
TONY BINGHAM would like to appeal for help from Bygones readers.
He said: "Firstly, may I say how much I've enjoyed reading through Bygones articles since discovering them online.

BUILDING AN EMPIRE: The Empire Hotel, which used to be at 414 Victoria Street, Grimsby, on the corner of Lower Spring Street. The site was previously occupied by the Bingham Commercial Hotel.
"Many of the articles have brought back fond memories of my younger days living in the area when the Bull Ring, Riby Square and many other streets still existed.
"I would like to ask if Bygones readers have any information or pictures of the Bingham Commercial Hotel which stood in Loft Street (now Victoria Street North)?

"I understand that it later became the Empire Music Hall and Hotel before being demolished and is now the site of a car showroom.
"While researching my family tree we discovered that my great-great-grandfather, Edward Bingham, and his wife Elizabeth, ran this establishment in the mid 1800s and I would love to find out more about it."

“I would like to thank the readers who were kind enough to contact me about the Bingham Hotel. Although I am still looking for photographs I now have quite a lot of background information on its history. A special thanks to Doreen Tyson for all her collection of`snippets` from her database”
