The young snooker star has been living with a brain tumour since he was eight years old and had a shunt in his head to drain the fluid in his brain – caused by pressure from the tumour – into his stomach.
However, doctors eventually discovered that a fungal infection had travelled from his stomach, up the shunt, and into his brain.

Luckily, they controlled the infection in the nick of time and former England Under 19 Championship competitor Blake returned home last Friday.
Since his story went in the Grimsby Telegraph, World Snooker got in touch to offer Blake the chance to meet some of the world's best stars when PartyPoker.com Premier League Snooker comes to the Auditorium in November.
Blake will get the chance to meet snooker legends, as the best in the game battle for the overall Premier League title on the weekend of November 26-27.
Blake said: "It is absolutely wicked – I can't believe it."
Blake has already met most of the game's greats, including Jimmy White and Ronnie O'Sullivan – but he never shies away from anything snooker-related.
The youngster even hopes to challenge one of them to a game.
"I'm not back to my best but I would certainly love to have a go at playing one of them," he added.
Grimsby Auditorium will host two semi-finals on Saturday, November 24 and the final of the Premier League on Sunday, 25.
The players involved have not yet been decided, although it will feature the best performing professionals in the league, which includes legends such as world number one Mark Selby, UK Champion Judd Trump and former champion John Higgins.
Sharon Daulton, marketing and press manager for Grimsby Auditorium, said: "The fact that Grimsby has got this event shows what a great following the sport has in the area.
"After the professionals came last year, they wanted to come back and, as a result, we have the finals and the semi-finals this year.
"It's the biggest snooker event that we have had in the area and it's a privilege for us to host it."
