Emergency services urge children to stay safe this summer after teenager found drunk
AS the majority of school pupils across the area gear themselves up for six weeks of school-free-fun, emergency services are urging them to stay safe this summer.
Their plea – and the re-launch of the Grimsby Telegraph Safe Over Summer campaign – follows the shocking revelation that a 14-year-old visiting the area had consumed so much alcohol he almost died.

The boy, who has not been named, was saved by a PCSO who said he had "a very lucky escape".
To ensure other teenagers make it through the summer break unscathed, reporter FAYE PRESTON has been catching up with the emergency services to get their top safety tips.

“Cheerful Charlie...your view is not cynical, its pathetic. I hope you are not a parent, if you are I live in fear for your children. At least the GT and Police are doing something to try and keep children safe.
If people like you took your responsibilites serious, the police would not have to waste their time and our money taking care of your children.
Thank God PCSO Lee did what he did and saved the boys life.......but I suppose if he let him go and the boy died, it would just give you something else to moan about. You could have then winged that the police don't do their job properly.
Well done GT & the Police for trying to do parents jobs for them.
Grow up or Shut up.”

“Actually Paul... I think you'll find kids don't go to these places because when they do go there, they are chased/shouted at/attacked by other groups of youths and then its the innocent ones who get moved away. Thats the way life is, the safest place for these kids to play is inside on their x-box, and often thats the only place some parents will let their kids play.
People need to look after their own children before telling others how to do it.
Rant over.”

“What is this rubbish about "" kids have know where to play"" where have kids played for the last 80 years? most kids sit staring at a screen in their bedrooms in there spare time on ps3s/ xbox etc. When we where kids we played in the woods, arent those woods still there?? we made dens, tunnels, made up physical games, a tarzan rop, make a go-kart out of an old pram. Kids have no imagination nowadays because their parents didnt, parents who are now 30 with 10 year old kids are the worse parents ever. Tell the kids to get down the woods, or that big beach at cleethorpes. Oh of course, ""its toooo far"", anything further than the bottom of their streets is too nfar coz kids are bone idle and lazy, brainwashed by gtaming consoles. Most kids in Grimsby actually never leave their town until theyre 18 !! how sad.”

“Funny how one minute NIMBYS are closing parks giving the kids less and less to do then the next minute complaining the kids are getting up to stuff they don't approve of. If they were ALLOWED to do fun, structured supervised things then they wouldn't go off and get up whatever THEY thought was fun.
Cant have it both ways. But then GY stopped being fun (unless you like going to the pub and getting hammered, having a fight, throwing up etc) about 20 years ago.”
