LOUTH cricket star Arran Brindle was in the England's women's team which stormed to a 48-run victory over New Zealand.

Although Brindle could only score four runs herself, England won the second Twenty20 international at Seddon Park in Hamilton.

Charlotte Edwards and Laura Marsh shared an 82-run partnership to put England on their way to 166-7.

Danni Wyatt took three wickets to curtail hopes of a response from New Zealand, who were bowled out for 118 with four balls to spare.

England lead the five-match series 2-0 ahead of Wednesday's third game.

Marsh's 48 from 29 balls included 11 fours, while Sarah Taylor made 45 before falling in the final over.

Brindle bowled four overs and was hit for 25 runs. She failed to take a wicket.

Off-spinner Wyatt (three for 24) was the pick of the bowlers, with Marsh and Anya Shrubsole claiming two wickets each.
