Buy Local is back with more bargains - and vote for your favourite retailer
BUY Local is back.
The supplement in today's Grimsby Telegraph featuring more Buy Local offers is the latest instalment of our campaign backing local, independent traders.
And this time around there is a new award to recognise the best independent traders – to be chosen by you.
The Buy Local Award 2013 has been created following the huge success of the campaign throughout 2011 and 2012.
It will highlight the retailers who have excelled customers’ expectations.
And we are asking you to pick your Buy Local Award winner.
Perhaps the Buy Local trader offers you the best customer service, or the best value for money. Or you just think they are an all-round great trader!
Whatever your reason, send in your text vote, following the instructions below.
The retailer with the most votes will be crowned the winner.
With the Government announcing that the UK faces a triple-dip recession, everyone is having to tighten their belts.
Trips to the shops are getting more expensive, so the great savings offered through Buy Local could make a big difference to your budget.
There are currently close to 6,700 Buy Local cardholders who have already felt the benefits of the great discounts available on a wide range of products and services, from home furnishings to garden supplies.
Businessman George Axworthy is the owner of Sentiments Independent Funeral Home, and says the Buy Local scheme is a great idea for all.
“I believe in buying local,” he said. “If everyone uses local businesses they will have lots of trade. Therefore, they will have to employ more people and in the long term there would be less people unemployed.
“The scheme really does work – we have already been able to give £800 to charity thanks to Buy Local cardholders.
“It gives the public great discounts and helps persuade more people to shop locally, helping the businesses. It benefits everyone.”
Tim Jay-Smith, of the Cop Shop home furnishings store, says people need to keep the high street alive.
“When you buy online you don’t know what you are getting, you don’t get the same customer experience as you do in an independent shop,” he said.
