Cads begin title hunt in fine style
CLEETHORPES and District Swimming Club stars are going all out to regain the Lincolnshire Junior League title.
They were narrowly beaten to the 2012 crown by Lincoln Vulcans.
But Cads are determined to regain the title they last won in 2011 as part of an amalgamation with Scunthorpe Anchor.
Each year brings fresh opportunities to shift the balance of power between clubs, as 'older' swimmers become ineligible for this league format. The competition is aimed at emerging competitive swimmers aged 9-12.

Round one of this year's league was held in Louth, which hosted Cads, Skegness, Scunthorpe Anchor, South Axholme Sharks and South Lincs Swimming Club.
Lincoln Vulcans, along with Grantham and Gainsborough were hosted by Lincoln Pentaqua in a corresponding round one fixture.
Round one is always a memorable moment for the nine-year-old swimmers representing Cads for the first time – and this years 'newbies' can look back with satisfaction having given a great account of themselves on debut.
The normal 49-event quick-fire format got underway with the Cads under-12 relay quartet securing first place to set the tone of things to come.
The winning quartet contained two 10-year-olds (Lucy Krofchak and Hattie Talbot) and two 11-year-olds (Ellie Buxton and Freya Davies).
The under-12 boys' medley relay team also hit top spot with George Legge, Oliver Bradley and Joe Basdeo-Taylor all swimming up an age group to set up George Barber for victory on the anchor leg.
Then came the moment of truth for the 2013 campaign – how would Cads nine-year-olds measure up?
Firstly, the girls' quartet of Evie Barber, Beth Crump, Heidi Warne and Beth Lister raced home in second place in the 4x25m freestyle relay.
The boys' quartet of Harvey Harris, Carter Knoyle, Connor Ewens and Benjamin Hughes went one better with victory.
Cads' individual race winners included: George Legge, Ellie Buxton, Harvey Harris, Oliver Bradley, George Barber, Beth Lister, Lucy Krofchak, Joe Basdeo-Taylor, Freya Davies and George Barber.
