CAMBRIDGE Park Maths and Computing Specialist College is more than special – it is "outstanding."

That was the praised heaped on students, staff and governors at the Grimsby school by Ofsted inspectors.

Nearly half of the pupils have autism and most of the others have either moderate learning difficulties or speech, language and communication needs.

The inspectors found students met and exceeded their learning targets frequently and scored 22 out of a possible 25 in the inspection criteria for an "outstanding" school.

For more comments from inspectors, staff, parents and pupils, see today's Grimsby Telegraph.

“My child also goes to this school...did we as parents get a voice? We didnt know offstead where in untill 3 days before...and isn't it surprisng how certain children where warned or moved around on the days that the inspectors where in, I always thought the inspectors where there to make reports on the school in its natural running....I don't think this is the case on this ocasion....and as parents we intend on communicating with ofstead and raising the issues we have.

“Cambridge Park, its students, staff and headteacher is another jewel among North East Lincolnshire's educational treasures. There is much to do across the piece to ensure that every young person gets a personalised education fitted to their needs. Officers of the authority need to consult Cambridge Park expertise even more than they do now to work out strategy and plan the wise use of resources. This school should be at the centre of planning and development, given the overall profile of the area's young people, including links with every other school and academy and with other key services such as the NHS.”
