New signing Charlie Wassmer could go straight into the back four after his debut was delayed due to the postponements of the games against Hyde and Ebbsfleet.

Defender Jonathan Thorpe has been loaned out to Tamworth and will not be available for selection.

Cambridge have only lost once in their last 10 league matches and are six points off the play-off places.

Grimsby goalkeeper James McKeown will face a fitness test before the game.

McKeown was sent home suffering from illness before the midweek match against Hyde and has been laid low since.

Greg Fleming deputised in that game and will again take his place between the sticks if McKeown remains unwell.

Striker Liam Hearn remains out with an Achilles injury while fellow striker Andy Cook advanced his claims for a starting spot after netting twice from off the bench in midweek.

Cook will compete with Richard Brodie for a place alongside Ross Hannah in the Grimsby attack.
