It was a difficult decision for judges at Comley Cameras in St Peter's Avenue, Cleethorpes, as they had hundreds of images to choose from, but Mark's image stood out from the rest.

Each month they pick a favourite and present the winning photographer with a fantastic prize – a £70 canvas print of the winning picture.

Mark said: "I took the image in the morning at Weelsby Woods and it was a foggy day.

"The image is of my partner Trudi and my two children Ryan and Emily.

"I was just snapping away on my Nokia N8 phone and didn't think it would be a winning image. It was the first time I entered the competition.

"I am really pleased with the way it turned out considering it was taken on my mobile phone and it will look great on my wall."

Mark, who works at Coldwater, enjoys taking images of natural places, he added: "I prefer abandoned places to take pictures of with contrasting light. I wish I could do photography as a job, as well as doing graphic artwork. Some of my graphic work has ended up on the walls of The Barge pub."

Paul Burgess, judge and manager of Comley Cameras, said they didn't know it was taken on a mobile phone while they were judging.

"We choose this image because it creates a moody atmosphere and it is a great composition in a local area," Paul said.

"It was a bit different to the other images and we liked the letter box shape of it.

"We are looking for images that stand out and people should submit images that they like, not that they think we might like.

"We have had such a diverse range of pictures submitted, and this winning image just proves that you don't have to take it on an expensive camera."
