Neil Castle proves to be king at Immingham Golf Club's Captain's Day
NEIL Castle stormed to victory at Immingham Golf Club's Captain's Day.
The event marked the culmination of Chris Connaughton's year as club captain, and members turned out in force to support him.

The day commenced with all players partaking an all-day breakfast, and a halfway house manned by friends and family was set up adjacent to the 10th tee to provide players with refreshments halfway through their round.
With a score of 44 points, Castle achieved the best score of the day and picked up the Captains Prize. In division one the winner was Jonathon Lea with 42 points. In second place, on countback with 40 points, was George Keogh from Micheal Gilboy.
In division two the winner was past captain Rob Lamb on 40 points. In second place was Colin Brown on 39 points, and in third with 37 points was Micheal Davies.
Nearest the pin on the 4th hole was Graham Smith, on the 8th was Steven Ayres, and on the 12th Rob Cruddas came close to a hole in one.
In the Ladies section, the winner was Jackie Clare with 40 points from Alex Smith on 39 points and Olivia McFerron with 38. Nearest the pin on the 4th hole was Hillary Ashworth, on the 8th was Alex Smith, and on the 12th was Kathy Blades.
In the evening the captain presented all the winners with their prizes, followed by a buffet and music provided by a disco.
Elsewhere, Dale Munson from Grimsby retained the Gross Trophy at Cleethorpes Golf Club's Junior Open thanks to a 68.
The Open was well supported by 30 participants in the 18-hole competition and six in the nine-hole.
The Nett Prize was taken by Cleethorpes' Ashley Fletcher with a 92-26=66 with Sam Noble, also from Cleethorpes, taking second place with 84-13=71.
The Girls' Prize went to Katy Langley with a net 75, and the nine-hole competition was won by Edward Emerson from Cleethorpes who pushed Alex Crompton into second place.
Nearest the Pin on 11th went to Siddy Dick; longest drive on the 16th to Lloyd Coutts and nearest the line on the ninth was Ben Carter.
Sally Coultas took the Presidents Cup at Grimsby Golf Club with 38 points.
In the silver division, first was Jane Peacock, second Debbie Kerr, and third Trish Goodwin. In the bronze division, Anne Trott came first, with Joan Askam second, and Merrill Rowan third. In the copper division, first was Jackie Guider, second Carol Page and third Beth Bull.
Another hot and sunny afternoon saw 16 mixed pairs play for the Harry Younger trophies at Louth Golf Club.
The foursomes' stableford was won by Paul and Anne Brackenbury with 37 points, three shots ahead of Roy and Jean Fenner on 34 points (21 back nine).
In third, also on 34 but with 17 on the back nine, were Andy and Gill Brook, and fourth were the respective partners of the men's and ladies captains, Maureen Barnes and Tony Shepherd, with 32 points.
At Market Rasen, 135 male members supported club captain Mick Banks on his Captain's Day.
The overall winner of the Captain's Trophy and Prize was Ben Hinchliffe with 79-12=67, second was Stuart Britton 85-15=69, third was Steve Norton 78-8=69 and fourth was Peter Nash 91–22=69 – the individual places being decided on a count-back.
