A GRIMSBY football starlet is hoping to attract attention from England selectors after being selected for the Hull College Centre of Excellence Girls' squad for the second year running.

Cauren Webb, 13, of Roseveare Avenue, is now playing for the centre's Under-14s – the age group where England selectors begin to scout for players to join national training camps.

The Healing Science and Foundation College pupil says her dream is to play football for her country.

She travels to Beverley and Hull twice a week for training and her matches – played against other centres of excellence on – include trips to Newcastle, Liverpool and Manchester United.

Now she is hoping her flourishing football career attracts sponsorship which would assist her family with the travel costs.

She said: "I started playing football at the age of nine and loved it.

"I progressed from playing in local teams up until I was 12 and after doing some research I found there were centres that offered trials. I took part and now I'm in my second season at Hull.

"My dream is to reach the peak of my ability and maybe one day play in the ladies' England squad.

"To achieve this would be amazing, but I know it's a long hard road to become that successful.

"But I also know if you work hard enough and believe in yourself, anything is possible."

Cauren's mother Claire believes her daughter has the guts to reach the top. She said: "Cauren puts 110 per cent into her football while juggling time with school and family.

"My dream for Cauren is for her to achieve her dreams. I'm sure, with her dedication and commitment, she will give her all to achieve this."

Women's football is one of the fastest growing participation sports in England. Under boss Hope Powell, the national women's team reached the 2009 European Championship final but lost 6-2 to Germany.
