REIGNING champions Clee Cons B opened up a two-point lead at the top of the Roy Ling Mutual Grimsby Snooker Doubles League Premier Section after a 4-2 victory at Linden Homes A.

They got off to a great start when Scott Gibbins and Lewis Singleton won the opening two frames, but they were pegged back by John Baker and Chris Brown, who won two for the home team.

Undeterred, Mark Goss and Brian Bridge pulled out all the stops to win the last two frames to seal the win.

Hainton A played host to New Street Lads but, despite winning the first two frames, they had to settle for a 3-3 draw.

Yan de Grouchy and George Bartlett got them off the mark before Rick Gilliatt and Dave Morley levelled things up for the Lads.

The last pairing – Dave Cox and Dan Frosdick – shared with visitors Roy Gibney and Dan Mumby.

Clee Cons A lost the first three frames in their home match against Linden Homes B after Daz Evans and Shane Newbold both won two for the away team and Chris Madsen and Jon Leggett won their first frame.

They came back well, however, as Jimmy Yates and Paul Beasley, pictured, won the next frame before Rob Willerton and Paul Lidgard won the last two to force a draw.

Taylor Made Carpets beat a four-man Healing Legion B 5-1 when Ian Sadler and Keith Southwell both won two and Mark Stevens and Craig Taylor shared with Dave Lainchbury and Barry Pearce.

A 2-0 from Stuart Gibb and Kev Gowing, and singles from Graham Hewison, Dave Robinson, John Rowson and Myles Kennan, gave Blossom Way B a 4-2 home win against West End A.

Picking up the frames for the visitors were Euan Hunter, Dave McMullen, Andy Warner and Paul King.

Dave Hallberg, Gerry Howes, Nigel Barr and Bernard Mooney won the first four frames for Healing Legion A before Pete and Dave Cullum saved Clee Bowls C's blushes by winning the last two in a 4-2 defeat.

Dads & Lads lead the way in Section A after a 6-0 drubbing of a four-man Blossom Way A.

With the Blossoms being short-handed, the Dads sat out and watched Mathew Lawton, Lewis Sewell, Brad Burrell and Taylor Downing win all the frames played.

Nats were a black ball away from a slam in their home game against Clee Bowls B when Dave Walton and Nigel Francis won the very last frame for the visitors.

Earlier, there was no stopping Terry Blanchard, Mick Goodwin, Danny Hargrave, Steve Drinkell, Ryan Johnstone and Dave Elshaw who won the five frames for the home team.

A 2-0 from Dave Page and Peter Needham and a single from Dave Sargent and Mike Needham put West End B three to good at home against Standard A.

They couldn't complete the win, however, as John Brocklesby and Dave Rushby with a single, and Adam Boyington and Pete Gibson with two, earned the visitors a share of the spoils.

In another drawn game, Phil Revell and Dave Telfer won the last two frames for Cromwell B to deny Healing Men's after Dean Austwick and Dave Leen put the Men's in a winning position.

Earlier, Daz Roche and Ray Revell had shared with Den and Jamie Wallis.
