Organiser Michael Kentfield is delighted with the exhibition, which features more than 90 world-renowned artists
He said: "I feel like my life has begun again, as it has been nine years since I last put on an exhibition.
"It is really to showcase the immense talent in the area and Lincolnshire has more artists than anywhere else in Britain.
"I would just like to thank everybody who supported us and a special thank you to Mike and Victoria Sommers for their work in producing the programme and all their help."
The last Great Grimsby Art Exhibition was held in 2000 to raise money to help people with mobility problems go on holiday in specially adapted ambulances.
Now it is back to raise money for the Bottoms Up Appeal.
All the money raised after costs will go to the appeal – as well as 25 per cent of the money made from all sales.
Professor Daniel Khan OBE, principal of the Grimsby Institute, is delighted the exhibition is taking place at the college.
Mr Khan said: "It is a pleasure to host such a fabulous display, especially as some of the work is by former students at the Institute.
"We are a provider first and foremost, so it is great to see the talent we have on show here in aid of such a good cause."
The 2009 Great Grimsby Art Exhibition will run from Monday to Saturday from 11am to 9pm and then on Sunday, July 26, from 11am to 2pm.
Admission is £2 and a catalogue is provided. Admission is free for children under 12 and disabled access is available.
