He came under fire after he posted panto phrase "Oh no it isn't" under a poster proclaiming "Grimsby – worth a second look".
However, he immediately apologised after a complaint from a fan, tweeting: "It was a panto joke! I love Grimsby. Sorry if I offended you. I assure you I didn't mean to."
He told the Grimsby Telegraph: "It was light-hearted and I apologise to anyone who was offended by the caption.
"I will be changing it to 'Oh yes it is', which is what I should have written in the first place.
"I have been staying in Cleethorpes and I love both areas."

“It's probably just a publicity stunt to boost ticket sales, when the bar staff outnumber the audience in Grimsby, you need Aladdin to rub the magic lamp, next year get Noddy Holder or that extra from 'The Sweeney'.”

“Chesney: Say 'Tim's got a job' when the audience responds 'OH, ho he hasn't' that's standard procedure, if they say 'Oh, YES, he has' that's the time to get worried.”
