Classical concert returning to Cleethorpes in August after two-year break
THE Classical Concert will return to Cleethorpes this year after a two-year break – with a very special guest.
G4 star Jonathan Ansell will top the bill at Classical Goes Pop! on Saturday, August 25 at the Meridian Park Showground.
Local arts organisation The Culture House, has been awarded a grant of nearly £60,000 to host prestige events, and has decided to bring back the hugely popular show.
Director Charlotte Bowen said: "I want to engage, excite and inspire the people of North East Lincolnshire by bringing music, culture and entertainment. I wanted to bring back the classical concert because I realised how many people had missed it since the last one in 2009.

"The tourist information centre in Cleethorpes has had a high number of enquiries as to whether or not it will be staged again.
"So we applied to Arts Council England for funding support, knowing there was a dedicated audience out there, and they were keen to support us, which is great news.
"The aim of Classical Goes Pop! is not just to stage a concert that will appeal to usual audiences, but offer a high quality experience that will be widely appealing to all.
"We pledge to bring a fantastic event to the resort, and with Jonathan as a guest soloist, we hope it will be an even more memorable occasion."
Charlotte took a degree in Design and Media Management in London, where she developed a love of live events.
Her first job was as a features writer at the Ealing Gazette and she also worked at the Grimsby Telegraph as a feature writer during 1999.
She went on to work at North East Lincolnshire Council as an Arts Development Officer for six years, and then decided to create Culture House.
Typical classical concert audiences revel in bringing their "hampers and champers" to the event and this is certainly something The Culture House is encouraging.
Charlotte said: "A classical concert is like a celebration and what better year to bring it back than the Jubilee?
"We'll expect lots of flag-waving and participation!"
The programme is still being confirmed, but will include numbers from Cole Porter and Gershwin, with Nessun Dorma, Caruso and Bohemian Rhapsody among the vocal numbers Jonathan is set to sing.
It will, of course, conclude in a Last Night Of The Proms- style finale, complete with fireworks.
Tickets for Classical Goes Pop! are £20 in advance for adults and £10 for children, or £25 and £12 on the gate.
A limited number of early bird tickets are available to North East Lincolnshire residents only at £18 with £9 concessions.
