Cleethorpes RUFC suffer defeat at Boston RUFC
STRUGGLING Cleethorpes RUFC began life without Dan McDaid with a 22-0 defeat at Midlands 4 East (North) leaders Boston RUFC.
With several changes made from the side that lost to Long Eaton, the visitors opted to brave arctic-like conditions for a warm-up.
Cleethorpes were forced deep into their own territory for much of the first-half – that was the result of strong winds and defeat to Boston in the coin toss.
However, the commitment shown by the entire travelling defence was among the best seen this season.

As half-time approached without score, Cleethorpes would have been encouraged by their success in keeping the table-toppers at bay.
However, a double slip in defence allowed the home side to show their class – and dampen the Meggies' spirits – with two unconverted tries.
Cleethorpes returned from the break hoping to capitalise on their new-found weather advantage.
Andy Shaw had a golden opportunity for Cleethorpes. However, he failed to hold onto a pass from Scott Brown just five metres short of the line.
Although the scoreline would suggest otherwise, Boston were relieved to overcome a tough away Cleethorpes side.
