Cleethorpes men take Lincolnshire Golf Union's Henry Lunn Shield
CLEETHORPES Golf Club's men played some superb teamwork to win the Lincolnshire Golf Union's Henry Lunn Shield for the first time in 46 years.
The 36-hole Stableford competition was contested by teams from all over the county and the Clee squad, consisting of Lee Davey, Siddy Dick and Steve Williams, took the honours on their home course.

The Cleethorpes youngsters have also been in action, at the Grimsby and Cleethorpes Championship Day. The best gross score was achieved by Dale Munson from Grimsby with a 76 and he took the Eric Sharp Trophy, pushing Lee Cardy, again from Grimsby, into second place with 77.
Max Robinson from Cleethorpes took third place with 79.
The Joe McVeigh trophy for the best net was won easily by Ashley Fletcher from Cleethorpes with 87-24-63 with Lee Foster of Grimsby taking second place with 92-23-69, nudging Sam Noble from Cleethorpes into third place with 82-12-70.
Elsewhere, the Elsham ladies travelled to Chesterfield for an away day.
They played in teams of four in an am-am with a twist. The winning team was Carol Croft, Pat Ecuyer, Margaret Hartley and Jean Westbrook with 81 points.
Judy Hewitt, Gill Leaning, Sylvia Lowery and Jean Simpkin were second with 78 points and Christine Branton, Angie Powell, Pat Taylor and Margaret Sugden were third with 76, beating the lady captain's team on a countback.
The ladies A team played their match against Stoke Rochford at Market Rasen for the Lincolnshire Championship and in a close-fought match, in which three games went to the last hole, they lost out by 3½ to 1/2.
The seniors lost their home match against Holme Hall by 5½ to 4½ in another close contest.
At Sandilands, 32 members aged over 50 played in the Dick Bloss Trophy. Winner with 41 points was Alan Corah. Geoff Ashford came second also carding 41 but was beaten on back nine countback. Derek Hammond came third with 40. Phil Knapton got twos on the 4th and 17th holes and Dave Smith a two on the 10th hole.
The ladies played for the Eva McGahon Trophy, a Stableford competition. Freda Smith came first with 37 points and Helen Sherratt second with 34.
Another 16 members played on captain's night in an around the outside Stableford Competition. Winner with 30 points was Pete Wilyman. Sherratt came second with 29. Mick Upton came third, also carding 29 but beaten on back nine countback.
Roy Clow was the only player to achieve a two, at the 17th hole.
