Clee sides hit for six by Premier hot shots
IT was a bad night at the office for Cleethorpes clubs in the Roy Ling Mutual Grimsby & District Snooker Singles League Premier Section this week.
The four top-flight Cleethorpes sides could only muster five points between them – with four of those coming from Clee Cons A's 4-4 draw at Cue World.

ON CUE: Lee Blanchard potted the highest break of the week, a 62, during a 7-1 victory for Inspiration Fireplaces against Cambridge H in the Roy Ling Mutual Grimsby & District Snooker Singles League Premier Section.
Clee Bowls X entertained Ray Edmonds A and lost all eight frames – Jamie Richardson, Alan Edmonds, Chris Sutton and John Ashford-Smith were Edmonds' hot shots.
Don Noble Bookmakers were also on the receiving end of a drubbing. Nige Emmerson, Paul Clark, Gary Challis and Mick Ponsonby all won 2-0 for Webbonet.

There was almost another slam, for Inspirations Fireplaces, against Cambridge H. Lee Blanchard, Paul Smith and Chris Scott won all won 2-0 before Mark Wilkinson saved the whitewash for Cambridge by sharing with Darren Evans.
At Cue World, Jon Steel won 2-0 before Gary Skipworth and John Parker shared with Clee Cons A's Kev Ashby and Stu Swinburn. Ivan Harvey won the hosts' other two frames.
Metshine Westlands won 6-2 at MJ Decorators when Tony Aisthorpe and Dan Mumby both won 2-0 and Mick Thornton and Tim Gillin shared with Frazer Jones and Dean Richardson.
TR Carpets also won 6-2 when, after Chris Madsen and Ashley Wright had shared with Blossom Way B's John Hill and Paul Simpson, Ian Crosby and Mark Graves won the last four frames.
Daz Stansfield won both his frames for West End C in their 5-3 home win against Willows Sea Foods.
West End A lost by the same score at Ray Edmonds Enigma's when Liam Oswin, inset left, won the last two frames of the night for the home team.
Ray Edmonds J bounced back from a 7-1 thumping to beat new club-mates TR Carpets A 6-2 in Section A.
Kev North won the opening two frames for the Carpets before Steve Ellis, Andy Smith and Daz Kaveney won the rest for Edmonds.
Cromwell A also picked up six points against Clee Bowls A when Ian Taylor, Keith Tomlinson and Jase Lawton secured twos in reply to a 2-0 from Mick Chew.
Nats A were 3-1 down at home against Hainton B when Neil Russell won both his frames for the visitors and Chris Taylor shared with Dave Burton, who played with a broken ferrule and still managed a 42 break. Mark and John Ilbrey turned the match on its head, however, when they won the last four frames to give the Nats a 5-3 victory.
Two-nil wins for Pete Mitchell and Cameron Dunlop, and a single from Scott Grice against Mick Silver, gave Steve Austwick Garden Services a 5-3 against Standard A. Pete Sandiford won two frames for Standard.
Another 5-3 result saw Lewis Singleton and Scott Gibbins win 2-0, and Lee Pawson share with Art Young, as Clee Cons B beat Carr Lane D. Starring for the CarrLaners was Joe Goodfellow, who made a nice 54 break and won both his frames.
A 2-0 from Bill Altoft was cancelled out by Keith Atmore as Hainton A came back to draw 4-4 with Healing Mens.
Meanwhile, Green Army have withdrawn from the league.
Healing Legion B were the top scorers in Section B, with a 6-2 home win against Grey N Balding.
Simon Lidgard and Alex Burnett shared the opening four frames with Mike Caborn and Phil Marshall before Ryan Milson and Danny Reynolds won the last four.
Sean Carlisle and Mick Greenhalgh both won two frames, and Ryan Johnstone shared with Tony Eglin, as Cromwell Rat Pack won 5-3 at Westlands Juniors. Steve Neul was the 2-0 winner for the hosts.
A last board 2-0 from John Morton, adding to earlier singles from Ash Pexman, Danny Morton and Ted Foster, gave GS. Westlands a 5-3 against Clee Bowls D. Winning the frames for the Bowlers were Bob Camfield, Ray Charlton and Keith Sowter.
A single from Tim Cattell against Mike Clark along with 2-0s from Len Rodgers and Rik Walden steered Rapid Frames to a 5-3 at Clark Self Drive, for whom Phil Neild won both his frames.
Ken Payne and Eric Buck both won 2-0, and Mick Laverick shared with Chris Yull, as Clee Bowls C beat Nats B 5-3. Nick Woods won two for Nats.
Two-nil wins from Nigel Mumby and Alex Cowie, and a single from John Ford against John Rowson, gave Westlands A a 5-3 at Blossom Way A. Andy Johnson was the 2-0 winner for the Blossoms.
Ray Edmonds N find themselves on top of Section C after a 5-3 victory at Birds Eye A.
Anthony Hepton and Jason Sanders scored their 2-0s, with Richard Grant sealing the win with a single against Steve Burnett. Kev Armstrong won the two for the home team.
A 2-0 from Matt Paterson and a single from Dan Chisnall against Martin Dowling put South Bank B 3-1 up at home against Cambridge D. They couldn't hang on, though, as Craig Kuzumczak and John Phillipson won the last four frames for the visitors in a 5-3 victory.
Another team to score five were Healing Legion A. They won at Ray Edmonds S. Andy Jolley and Dave Walmsley were their 2-0 winners, with Roy Wilson sharing with Andy Stocks. Steve Arnold won the two for the home team.
An opening 2-0 from Glen Glover was equalled by a last board 2-0 from Wayne Douglas as Laceby Legion B shared the spoils with Birds Eye B.
Re-Generation K hit Rays Rockers for six when Andy Fletcher and Marc Phillips both won 2-0, and Carl Salah and Dan Webster shared with Matt Jones and Dave Taylor.
The biggest winners in the section were TR Carpets B. They beat Cambridge C 7-1. Dave Newham saved the slam for Cambridge with a single against Rick Mazingham. Mark George, Jamie Smith and Paul Rushby won the rest of the frames.
A 2-0 from George Walters and singles from Kev Ferguson, Mark Tarttelin and Roger Hansford against Ian Singleton, Steve Singleton and Trev Tompson gave Grimsby Police A a 5-3 victory against Cabbies.
Meanwhile, Ray Edmonds B have withdrawn from the league.
NOT Bottom ended a winless streak lasting more than a season with their first ever victory in Section D.
Matty and Adam Board shared the first four frames with Hasbeens' Win Rose and Adrian Webster before Phillip Madin and John Cook won the last four frames to give them a 6-2 result.
New outfit Blossom Way All Stars started their campaign with a 6-2 home win against Power Rangers. Daz Edwards, Brad Mowforth and Ross Lowther all won 2-0 in reply to a 2-0 from Liam Cribb.
Another team to win 6-2 were Cromwell Car Care. Gaz Ellis, Mark Hicks and Clive Brummitt all won 2-0 against Allotment Diggers. Peter Robinson won the other two frames for the Diggers.
A 2-0 from Louis Kirk and singles from Mathew Lawton, Bradley Burrell and Lewis Sewell gave Cue World Boys a 5-3 win over Laceby Legion A.
Ray Edmonds Jubilee beat three-man Road Runners 5-3. Terry Kerley won both his frames and Jim Drury shared with Keith Fountain. Simon Timpson won 2-0 for the Runners.
Mick Bird and Brian Broomhead put Cromwell B 4-0 up at Standard B only to see Barry Loveday and Mick Harrison win the last four frames for the home team in a 4-4 draw.
Meanwhile, Jenz and No Idea have withdrawn from the league.
