BOSSES at Young's Seafood have stepped in to save Cleethorpes Carnival.

As reported, organisers feared the 2012 parade would be the last one ever because of escalating costs.

“Please.. It must be April 1st already? Why would a large company want to revive the carnival? You wouldn't revive a dead hedgehog! I better stick a ridiculous spoiler on my old banger, and drive in the procession with the other ***ified cars!”

“no its not the only choice but a lot of kids put a lot of effort into the carnival. Decorating floats and rehearsing with their majorettes or dance troupes or bands etc. If it isnt your choice of entertainment you are not forced to go watch it. I think they need encouragement to join in these sort of activities and not have the p*** taken out of them and be called junior roly polys!!!”

"given a choice would you rather have all these children rehearsing and putting a lot of effort into what they do in the carnival (good or bad) or let them wander the streets in gangs hanging around with nothing to look forward to and bored out of their minds. Give them some credit for trying to get on with life!!

So thats the only choice is it..........Carnival or Anti Social Behaviour”

“The Carnival in its day was fantastic in years past and brought lots of imagination and creativity but sadly due to repetition and lack of business interest it became apparent the Carnival was becoming old and tired.

Yes it used to be fun but lets genuinely ask ourselves do we wish to continue with something that has past its sell by date or look for new opportunities in how the resort can be innovative and attract events that really deliver entertainment and variety for FREE to our community and more importantly attract visitors from further afield.

Times have moved on and tastes changed. Do we really wish to continue with this charade of rose tinted spectacles of something past or do we move forward with better opportunities with greater success for the area and Cleethorpes as a resort. Would it not be wiser to give this event a rest for a while. It is good that a local company has come forward with support but for how long? Is this the best we can do?”

“The Parade the last few years is just an advertising campaign for certain businesses, and totally boring.
I think it has served its time and needs to be called a day.”

“Davendogs...we could have a parade of Fat Controllers......Mr Shaw will love seeing himself so many times over.....we could have a biggest snout in the trough contest, that will be a tough one to judge...............nah, my first post suggestion was the best...YOU CANNOT BRING BACK THAT WHICH IS DEAD....leave it be, its extinct, no more, bury it and move on.”
