THE iconic Pier has been sold – promising a “phenomenally good” future for Cleethorpes.

However, Swindells Auctioneers, who were in charge of the sale, have confirmed it went for “considerably more” than the £400,000 guide price.

Auction manager Tina Waterfall is confident the new owners are the best for the job.

She said: “This is the buyer that I think will be phenomenally good for Cleethorpes and the future of the Pier.

“We are very happy with the purchaser. It is looking like it will be the start of a very, very exciting time for Cleethorpes.

“It looks like it will be in secure hands.”

Contracts are now being exchanged and it is hoped that the keys will be handed over in the next two weeks.

After the Pier failed to sell at auction, bidding wars broke out among buisness owners and companies who wanted to take the venue on.

Swindells declined to confirm what the new owner’s plan is for the Pier, which has been a nightclub in recent history.

The auctioneers are now looking for properties to include in their March auction. Phone 01522 789191 for more information.

“What happened to the last owner of Healing Manor ?
We know, and it was well publicised, that the vietnamese guys were cultivating the plants, but who owned the property ?
What happened to the owner or is the PC brigade hard at work to hide the truth ?”
