Cleethorpes Scooter Rally next weekend
Look out for Lambrettas, Hondas, Yamaha, Piaggio and Vespas galore in Cleethorpes as the National Scooter Rally hits town on the weekend of June 22 to 24.
At various locations around Cleethorpes you will see fishtail parkas, custom scooters, some with intricate designs, artwork and motives, mirrors aplenty and furry bits hanging.
It will be like the 'March of the Mods' as they gather in town, some will camp at the Stamford Club on Clee Road with The Pier playing host to two evenings of entertainment with Northern Soul and Ska music and Waves Nightclub has DJs and bands.
If you're old enough, you could relive your youth and the 60s as this bygone era has never died.

If you can recall the 1960s icons such as Mary Quant , The Who, The Beatles, Twiggy, The Mini car, Carnaby Street, Georgie Best, Michael Caine and of course the Mods - you are in for a threat!

As if any self respecting scooterist would call his machine a moped!. and now look out for hondas and yamahas? 99% of scooterists on the rally arent old enough to have been mods in the sixties , most would only remember the revival of 79. If the GT editor had a reporter actually talk to the scooterists, these stereotypical statements wouldn't be made.
That said the rally is a great weekend for us and also for the B and B's and bars of the resort, who always pull out the stops to make sure we have a good time.
Yes it is the armed forces weekend too. The armed forces scooter club will be represented on the parade, remembering local scooterist and ex royal anglian, Big Kev Gibbs.”
