DJ Gary said: “We are trying to keep soul alive within the resort, so we have invited a selection of top DJs from across the country to attend and get involved.

“Our aim is to get all those who used to attend soul events in the past back out, socialising and enjoying the music once again.

“We especially want to attract those who went to the Winter Gardens Northern Soul Motown events in the Eighties.

“I feel there is a need for this type of musical genre to stay around.”

All the classics will be played, with plenty of favourite Motown tunes that everyone will recognise.

Soul music originated in the United States in the Fifties and early Sixties, combining elements of African American gospel music with rhythm and blues.

Gary added: “I am really looking forward to the event and we are expecting people to attend from all over the country, such as Bradford, Nottingham, Doncaster and Lincoln.”

The last event Gary organised was the final ever Flamtastic night at the Grimsby Institute’s i-Bar in November.

At the night he auctioned off his Flam CDs and raised £250.

Gary and his fellow organisers have not yet decided where the money raised from this event will go, but it will help out a local good cause.

This is a ticket-only event.

It costs £5, and tickets can be bought from Lucarly’s, in Wilton Road, and Guru, in Sea View Street, Cleethorpes.
