Cleethorpes Town: Exciting times ahead for Owls following promotion
CLEETHORPES Town chairman Dave Patterson says the ratification of Owls’ promotion to Northern Counties East League Division One signals the beginning of an exciting future for the ambitious club.
As reported, due to the Lincolnshire League not being awarded step seven status last season by the Football Association, Cleethorpes’ promotion aspirations were in the balance.
This was despite the club being crowned Lincolnshire League champions, as well as winning two cup competitions and losing only two matches since boss Andy Liddle took charge in October 2010.
But the Owls’ new status was finally rubber-stamped at the league’s AGM, meaning that they can now officially take their place as one of four new teams in the division for the 2012/13 season.

Club chairman Dave Patterson said: “We are absolutely delighted that it has all gone through now and we are officially a Northern Counties East League club.
“Hopefully now we are in the pyramid system, we can continue to grow from here.
“Now that we are in the division, we are not looking simply to consolidate, we want to kick on and continue with the good progress that is being made at the club.
“It is an exciting time at Cleethorpes Town and everyone wants to be part of it. We are all absolutely buzzing; Andy is putting together a great squad and we cannot wait for the start of the season to come around.”
