Cleethorpes golfer Holly Clyburn wins her first professional title
CLEETHORPES golfer Holly Clyburn came through a dramatic play-off to win her first professional title today in Spain.
The 21-year-old - in only her second outing as a pro - fended off Spain's Carmen Alonso in a tense showdown at the Banesto Tour Valencia.

Both players tied the first play-off hole. Clyburn missed a putt at the next green to win it, but a further miss from Alonso ensured the title went to the Cleethorpes ace.
Clyburn, the overnight leader by a shot, struggled in the third and final round compared with her first two outings at Golf Club Escorpion.

But, with Alonso having finished a shot clear and on the cusp of victory, Clyburn showed tremendous resolve to the birdie the 18th and finish three under par, level with the Spaniard.
And the effort to sink that vital birdie was rewarded when Clyburn triumphed in the play-off.
