CLEETHORPES Leisure Centre's pool may have to close if it rains.

The leisure centre roof was damaged in last week's strong wind and rain and cannot be fixed until it has dried out.

This means if it rains the pool may have to close at short notice.

North East Lincolnshire Council ask swimmers to call ahead on 01472 323200.

“Maybe all the local councillors should volunteer to pick up buckets and catch the rainwater as it falls through the roof ! We wouldn't want the swimmers getting wet would we !”

“Funny Ithuoght Scartho baths was the dump (according to Mr Brown!) and needed replacing. Why not refurb Cleethorpes pool properly (the water always seems cold there) along with Scartho baths. I'm sure £8.4 million would easily cover the refurbishment of both pools. Two for the price of one!”

“Rather than fix the roof, simply knock it down. This will allow the council the opportunity to build a new 10 metre MEGA POOL at Little London. It will only cost £40 million for Balfour Beatty to build it, and everyone know's £40 million is less than it costs to repair a roof.

The roof would only cost £300 to fix. So what? We would have to close the pool to fix the roof, and that will mean we have no pool. If you are saying it's ok to close the pool for two hours to fix the roof then you are saying you can live without a pool. Whereas if we build the £45 million new pool at Little London first, there will be no interruption.

The consultation was open to all residents of NE Lincs. Well, all residents who are members of the Aquaphobia support group and were available on February 31st from 26:70 until 30:00. It's not my fault that everybody can't come to made up groups at made up times.

Anyone who says this idea is madness is themselves mad. If you don't like my idea I will steal all the water in the area and hide in in my new pool at Little London and I won't let anyone else swim in it. I like back stroke.

    Your's, Kristoff Sure.”

“Yay... Are they going to knock it down and expand Cleethorpes Light Railway and run it all the way to the Ice House, the-up-and-coming "Center Of Culture" for Grimsby???”
