The Leaking Boot Restaurant and Chippie celebrate their NELC five star Scores on the Doors success.
As reported, Scores On The Doors is part of a national Food Standards Agency backed scheme aiming to improve the legal compliance of all food businesses across the UK.
A team from NELC carries out completely random checks on the business' health and hygiene standards in the kitchen and marks them on a star rating scale – five being the best.
Owner of the restaurant Julie Kennedy, who took over when she was 16, said: "We are over the moon. We had four stars last year so we are very pleased to get the fifth.
"It is testament to the hard work of the staff and tells us that we are doing a good job.
"It is a fantastic award to receive and certainly gives us a bit of prestige.
"We have an excellent regular trade all year round with plenty of regular customers.
"It is the staff who make the business a success and I would like to thank them all for their hard work and commitment – this award is for them really."

“I had fish and chips from here last weekend for the first time in years, there was a huge queue but I was served really quickly. The food was great too!!”
