Cleethorpes
Substantial investment in machinery and course improvements over the last few years have resulted in the course being superbly presented, with a well-earned reputation for true, firm and fast putting surfaces.
From the clubhouse, where you won’t feel that links-style wind, Cleethorpes can look a minor challenge to the casual golfer.

Beware - with it's rough, strategic out of bounds and well-positioned bunkers and, of course, that wind, the back nine in particular can bite.
That dreamed of net 66 can quickly become a frustrating 76 or even 86.
The good-length first, with a well-guarded green, can cause immediate perils. By the time you get to the long, dog-leg fifth you may be tempted to bite off too much of the corner, meaning a reload from the tee.
There follows the short, par four sixth, which can also prove dangerous.
The seventh is the other par five, which can be reached in two, but has an out-of-bounds right to catch an errant second (or third) shot.
By the time you come to the back nine you may have a good score, in the making but this nine can unravel it quickly. The short par four 10th requires strategic placement off the tee, as does the par four, dog-leg 12th.
Then into real golf as 13, 14, 15 and 18, in particular, all play as long par fours, interspersed with a water-guarded green on the shorter 16th (it may not feel short into the wind), and a tough par three 17th with a tee shot played onto a large sloping green.
Get that 66 and you may wonder why it is such a challenge, but if you do get a 66 you have played good golf!
