"It is a great laugh with lovely people of all generations. Last time we learned how to create a flower.

"I would encourage others to come and give it a go."

Owner Dave Clark decided to expand his business after successfully trading within Top Town Market, Grimsby, for the past five years.

He previously had two stalls, one selling wool and the other haberdashery.

However, he soon realised that there was more of a demand for wool and yarn, so he thought a store would cater for his customer much better.

"My wife has taken over the haberdashery stall in the market and I now look after the wool in the shop," Dave said.

"The advantages of having a shop is that people have more room to look around and can spend time touching the products. On a stall I had to pass the items to customers for them to have a look.

"It also caters for wheelchairs and scooters so it will hopefully attract more custom.

"In the market I am only allowed to trade four days a week. Here I am open six days, and when winter arrives I will boost that to seven days.

"I am looking to be a thriving business within the town and I hope that more people will soon take up the classes we run as I think that they give the shop that unique edge."

Dave's Wool and Haberdashery is open Monday to Saturday from 8.30am to 5pm.

The knitting and crochet classes run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am to noon and 12.30pm to 2.30pm.
