Council sets 2014 deadline for new resort academy
CLEETHORPES Academy is one step closer after North East Lincolnshire Council (NELC) sent a letter to the Government outlining its plans.
It was revealed at a meeting of NELC's cabinet, during which Cllr Daniel Khan, principal of the Grimsby Institute, declared a possible interest in the new development, and left the debate.

In special measures: The Lindsey School in Cleethorpes.
As reported, the academy would be overseen by a coalition between Edge Hill University and Tollbar Business and Enterprise College in an effort to revitalise The Lindsey School – which is in special measures.
At a meeting of the council's cabinet it was announced the academy should be set up by 2010, and the site rebuilt by 2014.

Cllr Colin Eastwell (Lib Dem, Croft Baker) said: "I think it's absolutely essential Cleethorpes has a school at its centre."
The letter of intent has now been sent to the Department For Children, Schools and Families.
