Councillors assured that cuts will be properly scrutinised
COUNCIL leader Chris Shaw has assured councillors that any proposed future cuts will be subject to proper scrutiny.
He was responding to a question from Conservative group leader Keith Brookes at last week’s full council meeting.
-

Assured: Leader of North East Lincolnshire Council, Councillor Chris Shaw.
Councillor Shaw said: “Of course I can give that assurance. In November and January we had the scrutiny working groups and scrutiny panels to discuss the budget and any reductions in services. Obviously Councillor Brookes must have missed those because otherwise he would have realised that we have already done scrutiny.
“We have also had members briefings for those members that bothered to turn up.”

“It doesn't matter whether there will or will not be proper scrutiny - Shaw, Burnett et al will ensure that the built-in Labour majority on all of these panels (and the Labour chairs of all of the panels) will mean that all of the Labour Councillors will vote as they are told and the result will be a foregone conclusion.”
