Country is for wildlife
RE; the letter from "Concerned Townie" about wildlife heritage.
Is this person one of those who maybe visit the countryside about three times a year or have you indeed ever lived out in the wilds?
I, too, have lived in the countryside. I am a yellow belly, born and bred, and proud of it. So I think I am in a good position to comment.
As the lady wrote, it is the developers that must take the blame for what has taken place, not the farmers at all. How many acres of land has been lost this past 50 years for house building?
The country is for the farmers and land to grow the crops and the wildlife to thrive and no for houses.

“I totally agree, the farmers are the "Guardians and the groundskeepers "of our countryside and will still be here long after the developers have gone.”
