HOT shot Craig Waddingham racked up a break of 97 but his table-topping Clee Cons B charges were left stunned by a fight-back from their A team.

The Cons' 'B' outfit were on course to extend their lead at the summit of the Roy Ling Mutual Grimsby Snooker Doubles League Premier Section when they charged into a 3-0 lead against their club-mates.

Waddingham, who won this year's Grimsby Super Pool League, was on fire alongside Mick Bridge – adding breaks of 43 and 41 in the second frame to his earlier frame-winning clearance of 97 – as the B team moved 2-0 up.

Steve Donner and Scott Gibbins then made it 3-0, but opponents Paul Beasley and Jimmy Yeats pulled one back to get the 'A' team off the mark.

Two close frames followed, but the comeback continued as Damon Gresham and Craig Thomas won twice to force a 3-3 draw.

Five-star Hainton A triumphed 5-1 at Clee Bowls C. Aaron McHugh, Dan Frosdick, Dave Cox and Luke Major all won 2-0 before Pete and Dave Cullum saved the slam for the Bowlers with a single against George Bartlett and Yan de Grouchy.

A 2-0 from Dave Tanner and Dave Boyington, and singles from Mick Dobson, Shaun Bartlett, Andy McArthur and Ray Hammond, made it a good night for the Hainton Club as the B team beat Taylor Made Carpets 4-2. Craig Taylor, Mark Stevens, Keith Tomlinson and Keith Southwell won the frames for the Carpets.

West End A beat Healing Legion A 4-2. Paul King and Dave Dixon won both their frames, and Daz Stansfield, Joe Kilshaw, Euan Hunter and Sandy Young shared with Mike Crooks, Pete Krofchak, Paul Stringer and Nigel Barr.

Nats hit Standard for six in Section A as Mick Goodwin, Terry Blanchard, Bob Woodhouse, Dan Hargrave, Ryan Johnstone and Dave Elshaw proved too good for the opposition.

Dads & Lads won 4-2 at Clee Bowls B. Martin and Taylor Dowling won 2-0, and Pete and Alfie East, and Jase and Mathew Lawton shared with Janett Newell, Mike Barrett, Ralph Dale and Mick Parker.

A friendly game at Healing Mens saw Terry Lloyd, Dean Austwick, Den and Jamie Wallis, Andy Stanley and Bill Childs share frames with West End B's Dave Page, Eddie Wilkinson, Barry Jebson, Peter Needham, Walt Simpson and Mike Needham in a 3-3 draw.

The league is sad to report the passing of Paul Gillin, who played for many years at the Westlands Club. From the 1960s to the 1980s, Gillin partnered his twin brother Pete, alongside the likes of Byron Hatfield and Alec Cowie.
