CAISTOR were involved in one of Saturday's closest second round ties in the Lincolnshire County Cricket League's George Marshall Trophy – but suffered a three-wicket defeat on their visit to Bracebridge Heath 2nds.

The clash between the premier division championship chasers saw Barton Town secure a five-wicket win at Alford, while Market Rasen, of division one, lost by 51 runs to top-flight Alkborough.

Heavy rain caused the abandonment of Keelby's home tie with Louth 2nds at the halfway point, while Holton-le-Clay's tie against Scunthorpe Town did not see a ball bowled because of wet conditions underfoot and will also be re-arranged to a later date.

In the Bob Welton Cup, Alford 2nds (division three) were defeated by Scunthorpe Town 3rds, who play one section higher in the Lincs League.
