The game at the club's Augusta Street ground on Sunday, August 12, will be 40 overs per side, starting at 1pm and admission is free.

The club hopes that the match can become an annual event in the cricket calendar.

Players from the Lincolnshire and Yorkshire leagues will be approached to play for the Cavaliers and everybody involved in the day will give their services for free.

Lindum CC captain Jonathan Miller and Grimsby batsman Harry Warwick have agreed to help manage the event.

Businesses and individuals who would like to support the worthwhile cause are invited to send cheques to David Evans at 9 Western Outway, Grimsby, DN34 5HE (tel (01472) 878338) or direct to St Andrew's Hospice (contact Lynne Lemon, Peaks Lane, Grimsby DN32 9RP tel: 01472 350908).

If you send your payment direct to the hospice please write "cricket" on the back of the cheque to help them account for the funds.

There will be a raffle held at the game and the club would be grateful for any donations of prizes. These can be left at the cricket club where David Evans will be available every Monday night during the knockout competition (June 11 to July 23). He will also be available on Saturday afternoons when Grimsby's first team are at home.

The team line-ups will be announced in the Telegraph over the next few weeks.
